Dylan Egon Explores American Values and Consumerism in Great American Dream Machine The Artist’s Third Solo Exhibition with Jonathan LeVine
Jonathan LeVine Projects is pleased to present Great American Dream Machine a solo exhibition by artist Dylan Egon.
In Great American Dream Machine, Dylan Egon has created a pop up store located at 198 Allen Street, New York, NY. Through this exhibition, the artist explores the themes of American values and pop culture with a critique of modern production and consumption in our current political and economic environment. With a reverence for craftsmanship and bold design, Egon has created a collection of new work defining the new “American Dream.” The centerpiece of the show will be a 1929 ford model A built to feel like an early American hot rod, another nod to an “American Dream.” Furthering this notion is the painting “TOTEM,” featuring a series of “American dream machines” (TV, V8 engine, R2D2, Saturn rocket, and a boombox) stacked to form a sort of north western American Indian totem pole. In a salute to American consumerism, the artist has created more readymade objects available for sale than in any previous exhibition with the gallery. Limited edition objects include silk screened posters, skateboards, stickers, and apparel.
Great American Dream Machine will be Dylan Egon’s third solo exhibition with Jonathan LeVine. The exhibition will be on view November 21st, 2019 – November 24th , 2019. An opening reception of the exhibition will be held on the evening of November 21, 2019 from 7 – 11 PM.
