Olek videos of public performances

Polish-born, New York-based Crochet artist Olek is a prolific practitioner of public and performance art (both authorized and unauthorized). Here we share videos of a few of her recent works in NYC, wrapping human subjects as well as objects including the Charging Bull bronze sculpture on Wall Street, a grand piano for the PopUp Pianos "Sing for Hope" project, and a collaboration with a fellow artist for an installation in Thompkins Square Park.

Popcorn by Souther Salazar

"I went outside to play around with some animation tests on a beautiful day when there was a little break in the rainy weather. A small stray cat I had recently adopted, named Popcorn, kept invading and investigating everything I tried to do, so I eventually gave in and decided to follow him around instead. He was so restless that I thought it would be funny if his curiosity was never satisfied, and he ended up narrowly missing each little magic moment as he explored the wild backyard. The music is a lost classic by guitarist Don R. Auten, that I became obsessed with listening to during this same stretch of rainy days." — Souther Salazar
