Winston Smith (b. 1952) is the quintessential punk Surrealist, collage artist and designer best known for creating the Dead Kennedys iconic logo and artwork. He has produced over 50 record covers, is known for his work with Green Day, and publications such as The New Yorker, Playboy, Spin Magazine and many more. His technique of cutting by hand and gluing each individual element has inspired a generation of graphic artists. He has published multiple books of his collage collections, been featured in countless publications, and participated in numerous exhibitions in Japan, throughout Europe and the USA. He currently runs an underground community art space in San Francisco with his managers, Destroy Art Inc.
